Press Release: Bop City Pacific releases debut CD
East & West Bay Shows. Sure
The Nut Graph: Bop City is made up of cats and kittens you’ve seen in the Bay Area scene for years. On these nights, they celebrate the completion of a dream and the birth of a hip sound: Urban Smooth/Neo Funk. It’s very Bay and very suave. They took the name Bop City Pacific to pay homage to Jimbo’s Bop City, the 1940s era jazz club in the Fillmore. Jimbo’s Bop City was an after hours spot where the best came to play once they were done playing around town. Look at the resumes of this band. This too is some of the bay’s best coming together to play, have fun and do something different. Also, with so much jazz in the backgrounds of these players, they felt the name apropos.
